Our Current and former Athletes
Elizabeth
Elizabeth's knee pain is in the past! So what's next? A marathon! Elizabeth is already a speedy gazelle 💨 and would like to qualify for Boston somewhere down the road. Importantly, she'd like to do it without her knee acting back up. After being cleared by PT, we're in good shape to start training, and we'll pay specific attention to the things that could have brought this on.
Song
Meet Song, who's training for the Wild Woman 50k in June! Song's main goal in running is to listen to her body and focus on her journey rather than the outcome of one particular finish line.
In running, we can have outcome goals like finish times, but process goals like feeling strong, staying fueled, running healthy, and much more are just as important—if not more!
Harmony
Proud of Harmony, who joined our team to return to what she loves after taking care of family for a long time. Harmony has her eyes on the Tahoe Marathon in the fall. She went through a serious accident, fracturing her leg, and is now working on strengthening her body alongside her running.
Nancy
Meet Nancy, who’s training for the Revel Reno-Tahoe Downhill Half Marathon! She’s also participating in the Capital Odyssey two weeks thereafter with her husband who captains a team. Despite a history of back pain, Nancy discovered she didn’t need to live with it in her exercise thanks to the help of Jade over at Clinch Performance Physical Therapy.
Genevieve
What an absolute delight to have the talented Genevieve in our midst! She just cranked out an incredible 2:02 half marathon back in September, and now, after a break, she's back for the Jed Smith 30k in Sacramento at the end of the month.
When it comes to us ladies and aging, a certain kind of training that includes heavy weights and high-intensity efforts is paramount to decelerate muscle loss. I was so positively surprised to see that Genevieve is already incorporating the majority of these things in her weekly training. No wonder she's running her half marathons like a rocket !!
Tony
Meet Tony, who's aiming to qualify for Boston at the Tokyo Marathon in March! In the 70s age group, this requires about a 4:25 finish. He just ran CIM and was disappointed with his time.
Tony confided he might be struggling with back-to-back marathons more now that he's older. Yes, that's a fact. But when we looked at his running together, two things stood out more than just higher age-related recovery needs.
Joel
Joel recently joined a local competitive team but has significant time constraints as the sole caretaker for two children. One is five months old! He'd like to do well in the @pausatf Road Grand Prix, even though he can only run one day a week. A couple of marathons await in the distance as well.
Erin
Meet Erin, who's training for the Eugene Marathon next spring! Erin and I connected via the Mikkeller Running Club Reno! After running the Broken Arrow Skyrace and the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey last year, she felt an injury coming on, and as a result, Erin thought she might not be able to run more than twenty-five miles per week.
Jenny
Meet Jenny! She's training for the 2026 Javelina 100-mile race in the Arizona desert. She has already run the 100k distance there in 2024, so it won't be a quantum leap! But what most differentiates the two distances is likely the need to run through the night. Besides the nutrition puzzle, of course.
